Reimagining
mucosal health.

Restoring nature’s first line of defense

Our mission

Mucosal surfaces cover more than 100 m2 of the human body, forming a living shield against the outside world. They shape our immunity, defend against pathogens, and enable essential functions, from breathing to digestion to sight. When these barriers fail, inflammation and infection follow. We rebuild the body’s natural defense from the ground up, powering a new generation of products and therapies that restore mucosal health at its foundation.

Scalable production of mucins

Mucins are the glycoproteins that form the backbone of our mucosal barriers. By enabling scalable, affordable production of these complex molecules, we are unlocking new ways to restore and strengthen the body’s first line of defense.

Protect the epithelium

Mucins form the physical barrier that safeguards mucosal surfaces. Acting as both filter and shield, they prevent bacteria, yeasts, and viruses from reaching the underlying epithelium.

Suppress the virulence of pathogens

Mucins attenuate pathogen virulence by downregulating virulence gene expression and inhibiting adhesion to epithelial surfaces. In doing so, they strengthen the gut’s resilience, keeping harmful microbes in check.

Regulate the immune system

Mucins maintain immune balance by modulating inflammatory signaling and preventing excessive activation. By interacting with immune cells, they dampen inflammation and guard against chronic immune dysregulation.

Build the mucosal microbiome

Mucins are essential for establishing and maintaining the mucosal gut microbiome. They provide glycans that nourish beneficial bacteria, supporting microbial diversity and the production of metabolites that strengthen epithelial and immune health.

About

We are innovators in glycobiology, biomanufacturing, and immunology.

Our journey began with discoveries in glycobiology and mucin biology at Cornell University. Today, from our base in Copenhagen and with the support of the BioInnovation Institute, we are transforming that science into products that make a meaningful difference for people.
